The theme choice pink couldn’t be more perfect for Mrs Carmichael this week. Having just returned from the Marrakech medina, she is currently pickled pink.

Ailsa’s (Where’s my backpack?) chosen a colour this week which Mrs Carmichael always enjoys so I think a collage is called for.
With people posting such wonderful and heartwarming images of relatives, critters and connections I thought I should post a photo of mannequins who’ve moved to the darker side.
Frightening in the extreme I assure you there two are not related by blood to Yours Truly. This brother and sister combo can stay put in Taihape’s main street where I came across them on a recent road trip.
Lights, camera, inaction
More illuminations over here: Where’s my backpack?
Concluding my Soho centric quartet is a light switch. A gigantic plug and socket, specifically designed for turning on Christmas lights. Smiles.
Winter, in this corner of the northern hemisphere, involves much of darkness. Christmas illuminations a welcome relief.
Great news for those up this side of the world is that days are getting longer now.
More winter here: Where’s my backpack?
Not quite sure why this jumped out (at a low height) for me because this Spanish window dressing is not short on quirky inspiration.
Without the watering can the hound would certainly be low slung and, for me, birds are short on appeal.
Other shorts can be found right here: Where’s my backpack?
I think I might have bored y’all into near stupor with my Mid-Century Modernist preoccupation so I’ve given myself a rigorous telling off and am staying clear of houses in rocks, rocks on the roofs of houses and even rocks in wonderful Palm Springs front yards.
Instead je presente rocks as rocks. Up the San Jacinto Mountains no less. OOh and a coupla’ flags.
Et finalement
Many more rocks (and stones) here: Where’s my backpack?
How to compete with Ailsa’s stunner? Viewing here at Where’s my backpack? And what an likely colour to come up with a winner from my recent tri-town travels when the skies were so blue and the lay of the land so vibrant.
I’ve found masses and am having to contain myself. “Woh, Mrs Carmichael, control yourself, Girl.”
A quick, but vigorous, self shake and for your delectation browns from in and around Palm Springs’ Art Museum (http://www.psmuseum.org) which the husband and myself were clever enough to gain entry to on free Thursday evenings!
Designed by E. Stewart Williams, the museum blends into the San Jacinto Mountains that rise 8000 odd feet directly behind it. Inside is a riot of colour but, on checking, lots of earthy browns as well.
For today then, I give you only los marrones:
Y’all know I’m on my travels at the moment. From Nevada to the Californian coastline with a blissful stop in a personal favourite, Palm Springs.
I’m having a pool day today but it’s a tad caliente out doors at the moment so there’s just time for an on topic Where’s my backpack? post.
Yesterday Mr Carmichael and I hiked (go me using American-ease) 8000 odd feet up and around the San Jacinto mountains – fantastic. The views and the walk left me breathless in a number of ways.
But when it all comes down to it what can beat the large scale Marilyn statue in downtown Palm Springs?
I guessed she’d spent time in this fair burg but did not know she was actually discovered here #learningthroughtravel.
Feeling rather pleased with my latest header pic I am continuing the photo topic for Ailsa’s weekly photo challenge – through.
Right at the top of the Shard, on the viewing platform (only open if the weather isn’t too inclement) one experiences a sort of inside/outside in-the-sky experience. The shards are right above my head, as are the gaps in the shards, as is the sky (this day the same colour as the shards) and through the shards, gaps and grey sky came a plane.
