Mrs Carmichael is opinionated, quick to judge and occasionally impatient. She also changes her mind. She enjoys reading, the cinema, photography, travel, things that are designed well and synchronised swimming. Her dislikes include math, weakness, a tardy nature and chardonnay.
Mrs Carmichael has a number of very good friends and a few people who don’t like her as much as they should. On balance she quite likes herself, enjoys her own company and sometimes makes herself laugh.
And by any chance did she happen to once be or still be an English teacher in a private High School?
Private prep school (even worse).
Private Prep…LOL! I had a High School English teacher by the same name as your blog who taught a creative writing class. When I started blogging, people asked why? I said I was inspired by a teacher in 12th grade(that and my children who give me an endless supply of writing material). Huh…small world!
very small world and my daughters do too.
Hello.
Right at the bottom of Settings-Discussion reached from the dashboard, there is a box for the comment prompt, where you can change “Leave a reply” to something more interesting. Everyone should.
OMG thank you so much. Watch this space.
You are a star – never found that! Now I can encourage my readers too! Thank you!
I’m going to have to check back what wonderful intel I passed on to you but before I do, you are very welcome 🙂
Uhm – I replied to the advice you got from another user – found this advice very helpful – about personalizing the comment-line .. So I wanted to thank that user for her advice, even if it was not meant for me.
But you are a star for having such an amazing blog!
ohhh, your mind seems to work in a confusingly similar fashion to mine and thank you 🙂
thank you too for that compliment
So I noticed your comment on The Habitual Runaway’s post http://mrstaken.wordpress.com/2012/11/19/quickly-through-the-english-countryside-fr-sct-prt-3/ and it piqued my curiosity. After a bit of detective work I’m thinking you might be from New Zealand.
You might just be correct. I love a good detective moment.
It was the photo where you mentioned Australia off in the distance that gave it away! We’re practically related lol! Would you believe that last year, while we were on a river cruise in Germany, an American passenger simply could not believe that we hadn’t been to New Zealand, because she thought it was only a ferry ride across Sydney Harbour to get there! Ha!
I tend to find that many bloggers out there hate math. I suppose this is natural thought. After all, we are writers and they say that those who are good in thinks like reading and writing are not as privy to math and sciences. Then again, who knows! Nice to meet you.
Well, Becca that is certainly correct in my case. I am hopeless at math. Actually beyond hopeless. Helpless too.
Though* – apparently I am not good at either ;).
Haha, now that happens to the best of us. I really hope you get to do something else good as I hope my daughter get to use her dance ability for something worthwhile in her life. Maybe she’ll write about it. Now there’s a thought.
She should! Thank you ma’am.
Maths is not all that bad! Engineer writers need both words and figures in their lives… 😉
Thankfully I not an engineer writer then. The bridges wouldn’t be sturdy.
Fortunately I’m only a lowly mechanical sort of engineer… the bridges are safe!!
Phew.
Love your blog, and have nominated you for the Very Inspiring Blogger Award 🙂 D 34 Follow this link http://wp.me/p2X7Ju-CE
That is so kind. Thank you. It makes all the snow that’s fallen overnight slightly more bearable 🙂
I have seen on the news the amount of snow and the blizzard/storm. I am thinking of you here is sunny Australia. 🙂 D 34
Yea, I’ll be there soon (at least for a little while)
I think I would like mrscarmichael very much. Except for the sychronized swimming part! LOL. I feel the same as you do about all the other things and though I have some good friends, I have a number of people who don’t like me!! So funny and cute you are!
What can I say… be my friend. I’m going off syncro anyway.
I certainly will. 🙂
Good morning Mrs Carmichael,
“now it’s your turn” is certainly more welcoming than “leave a reply”…loved your choice of words.
Thank you for the like on my blog. I enjoyed yours.
Warmest regards,
Mary
Well thank you, Mary.
Best About page ever. Thanks for visiting my blog, and liking my photo today!
My pleasure and thank you. How many times can you write your own CV?
mrscarmichael. You inspire me to reinvent my internet self. I will follow you faithfully and like you as much as I should.
Ah, a disciple. I have always wanted one of those.
Mrs. Carmichael, I have a feeling that your sense of humour and I will get along very well. Great, funny, inspiring blog. Thanks for commenting and luring me here!
Oh, tms I after two, no let’s be honest three, glasses of sad blanc, I think I love you.
or even sav (ah it wasn’t my typing ’twas spell correct) thank goodness.
I’m on your page, Mrs C, as far as the Chardonnay (ABC, that’s me) and maths go…but I give the swimming a miss. Thanks for liking my posts, and luring to your blog..love the new disign.
Just sipping a NZ sauvignon blanc as I type, Suej so most topical. I need another diversion now the Olympics are well and truly over hence my change of Gravitar. I am thrilled with my new look and wish WP would close the theme so others cannot follow. Is that mean?
No, it shows a rampant individuality….
Ah, a woman after my own heart. Are you Scottish or were you just passing through when that gentle photo was snapped?
I enjoy your sense of humor!!
Thank you, Marso 🙂
Thanks for commenting on my blog. I thought it was time I came to see what you are up to. I think I may stay a while. Love your sense of fun (except for the syncho)
Jude – loves maths as well as words and pictures 🙂 sorry!
So over the syncro but still hate the maths.
🙂
Mrs. C sounds like a lovely person to me. Lovely blog as well. 🙂
Oh, I think you just might be my new best friend.
LOL! And a great sense of humour too. I think we will get on quite well. 😉
I love your blog. It always makes me laugh. Because of this, and because someone was kind enough to nominate me I am passing forward the Very Inspiring Blogger award to you.
Briefly here are the rules:
1. Display the award in a blog post (you can grab the image from my blog)
2. Thank the person who nominated you and include a pingback.
3. Tell us 7 things about yourself
4. Nominate 15 other blogs and link them on your site
5. Let them know with a comment on their blog, and include instructions as to how to accept.
Thank you so much, ‘foodie of the world’. As you know I do like writing about myself so welcome the opportunity 🙂
😉
Of course further digging reveals you’ve already had this particular award from another (several other) bloggers, though I think my picture is different. Your gracious acceptance is wonderful.
Listen, all praise/recognition is a good thing and, as you know, I do try to be a people pleaser. Except when I don’t.
Bikram Yoga is amazing, do it!
soo tempted. I might pop in and ask to have a look because if I cannot do any of the postures I will end up the class clown and I’m trying to cut down on that behaviour.
The poses are basic, the challenge is the heat but if you can manage that you’ll be alright.
hmmm 🙂 will keep you posted but don’t hold your breath.
I l
I love your blog! (Did you try the yoga?)
Thank you and arrrrrgh – i’m too scared (but it’s still in my to do bucket and only a couple of miles away. I am however in my track pants and in my mind already on a power walk.
But here I am still sitting in front of my pc which is your fault 🙂
Would love to hear your take on Bikram – do try it even if only once! A post on Mrs Carmichael Does Bikram can only be wonderful. 🙂 If you like, check out my very first blog piece “The meltdown of Hot Bikram” for a preview. It got me blogging. That’s how good it is! 🙂
Oh I will surely do that. I am so tempted and equally terrified.
So, you have a terribly funny and entertaining blog, you write cool and witty stuff. You interact with your readers but you hide your twits. I know it’s probably a modesty thing. But seriously, you need to be on twitter if you a) want to promote your amazingly cool work here. b) You’d have so much fun ‘interacting’ with the other twits. Come out and play!
I know…. I’ve got a bit ‘o a block about it but I so know you’re right.
follow me and I’ll do better. Is your Twitter address on you blog?
OOh and thanks for all the lovely complimentary stuff. I’m purring.
mrsc, did you make it to Bikram in the end? My younger daughter has been doing it now for a couple of years. She is passionate about it, is half the size she used to be, and can now bend over backwards so far she can put her head between her knees from behind. This could be you in the future. (I’ve exaggerated a little, she is not really half her original size, but she is very trim, taut and extremely terrific).
No but I so want to loose half my body weight and put my head through my legs BACKWARDS that I’m booking a session immediately!
Excellent. I am awaiting a progress report with bated breath.
Don’t hold it though. I cannot be responsible.
I will try not to turn blue.
Mrs C, LOVE your blog and LOVE your take on life… my kind of woman! Thanks for dropping by mine as in doing so you led me to yours… 🙂
Oh some Sunday morning praise – lovely. Are you going to document your new life?
Thanks for the like on my blog.
DJ
My pleasure, Danny.
Mrs. C, I tried Bikrim yoga and found it extremely difficult but my skinny girlfriend loves it. There is no entry level class so when you’re overweight some of the moves are darn near impossible. Since I’ve lost 30 pounds I’ve contemplated trying it again but there’s always something else that gets in the way.
Oh god best not go then. Wish I hadn’t eaten all that Bloody Mary pasta but oh it was so yummy.
I nominated you for a Dragon’s Loyalty Award.
http://holley4734.wordpress.com/2014/01/05/dragons-loyalty-award/
Holley, that is so kind. Off to check it out.
Mrs Carmichael, I love your witty sophistication and am popping back with the slightly déjà vu feeling that I have left a similar comment already… but perhaps not. Anyway, delighted to catch up with your recent posts and I look forward to seeing more. Patsy
Patsy, even if you have I do love a compliment.
Hi Mrs Carmichael,
Of all the blogs I read regularly, yours is one of my favourites.
I know that not everyone is into blog awards, so I hope you don’t mind that I’ve nominated yours for the One Lovely Blog Award: http://jaspasjourney.wordpress.com/2014/09/07/nominations-are-like-buses/
Oh thank you so much Jaspa.
You’re welcome, Mrs C.
Just assume those who don’t like Mrs. Carmichael very much don’t have good taste anyway. That is what I do.
Oh yes – a great mantra for life, me thinks.
