Weekly Photo Challenge (Selfie)

Well, this is a difficult one for me as I’m positioned by others and never with a self serving camera. Yet. So I’m taking the liberty of posting a daughter’s selfie and allowing myself to do this because she took it on my camera.

Please don’t tell her I’ve posted this.

Weekly Photo Challenge (Juxtaposition)

Just because I’ll be right in a window position this Thursday eve – having drinkies with friends. Half way up the new, looking down on the old. Should be a goody.

Weekly Photo Challenge (Window)

On a road trip for one on the West Coast of New Zealand’s South Island a couple of years ago I stayed, quite by chance, in Rimu, one of  Hydrangea Cottages Punakaiki (photos 8, 14 and 15).

These Nikau Palms were the panoramic view from my lavatory window. What a lucky girl.

I am thrilled to see the cottages get a well deserved superb rating on trip advisor and I shall return for the Pancake Rocks, the Hydrangea Cottages and the views from all the windows.

Weekly Photo Challenge (One)

This one beautiful orange Vespa was parked by itself in a Soho street outside The Sun and Thirteen Cantons, a pub I spent many many hours in back in the day.

My first job in the UK was in the building next door.

Weekly Photo Challenge (Community)

I thought immediately of the photo I took at the Getty Museum, LA back in October. These foreign school children and their teachers/parents toured the architectural delights on offer in time with us. We met them regularly.

They spoke no English but took loads of photos, just like me.

Weekly Photo Challenge (Unexpected)

Earlier this year I spent a goodly number of my Saturday mornings awaiting Daughter #1’s arrival at Heathrow’s Terminal 5, the British Airways hub.

Over the months the advertisements changed, some plain dull, some rather good, some wonderful.

This Burberry offering is my favourite not least because orange is my favourite colour but because Romeo Beckham just looks so cute and happy.

I took many photos attempting to get one without passing pedestrians.

The unexpected is that I love this one because of the intruder. A BA pilot no less.

Weekly Photo Challenge (Infinite)

Back in London with grey and drippy skies my thoughts turn to infinite blue – thank you America for the bounty you gave us.

Weekly Photo Challenge (Good Morning)

My love affair with desert warmth and blue skies continues with this post. Hot of the press from the Albert Frey house Carmichael mom and pop are renting is the first pic I snapped yesterday morn staggering from bed to sun lounger.

This London gal could get used to a view of such perfection.

Weekly Photo Challenge (From Lines to Patterns)

This topic has come at a perfect time for Mrs Carmichael because she has been bursting to pen a post about her recent sky high meeting with two fellow bloggers, JB who writes about his lederhosen attired adventures in The Adventures of Justin Beaver and his minder, The Eternal Traveller who is, as I type, probably dieting on waffles and Belgian chocolate.

But back to the challenge. On a rainy Monday we scaled the tallest building in London to look at the view and snap a few pics if the cloud cover allowed. It just about did and I found lines and patterns aplenty.

A selection follows:

And of course the gallery would not be complete without a photo of Justin hunting for my car in the wasteland car park 72 floors below.

Now I know I have been rude about the Shard in a previous post (see below) and it is still not my favourite modern building by a long, long margin but something rather magical happened as I got back to the extortionately priced parking puddle and my Fiat Bambina.

The sun came out and Mrs Shard put on her best patterned dress for me.

I’m rather pleased with that one.
